“Connected to God”
The “Connected to God” series is designed to help you understand the biblical theology of the three foundational experiences that connect us to God:
(1) being born again, spiritually, as a child of God (the Father),
(2) being baptized in water, in the Name of Jesus Christ, as a believer, and
(3) being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
This series is designed to help you explore:
• The biblical evidence that someone has experienced “godly sorrow” that “brings repentance that leads to salvation” and not just “worldly sorrow” that produces “regret” and “brings death” (2 Cor 7:10)
• Some cautions in assuming that everyone who prays a ‘sinner’s prayer’ is born again
• How to help some people come to faith in Jesus who may be resistant to the gospel
• Why water baptism is a powerful form of spiritual deliverance — far more than following Jesus’ example or giving public testimony to our faith in Him
• How to evaluate the theology and practice of infant baptism
• Why baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate experience to having the Holy Spirit come into our life when we are born again
• Five biblical supports for recognising that every believer who is baptized in the Holy Spirit has the capacity to speak in tongues
• Three vital reasons why every believer should speak in tongues
• How to help people overcome problems that prevent them from coming into a full release in the baptism in the Holy Spirit
• How to evaluate some common ‘theological’ objections to baptism in the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, and the gifts of the Spirit
